Hello! I’m Samar,
I’ve always had a deep love for art and drawing. Since childhood, I’ve been creating stories, making my own manga, and even producing animations without ever growing tired of it. That passion led me to create SamarArt—the first Arabic website dedicated to teaching drawing and animation based on my humble experience. My goal is to teach the basics of anime, manga, and cartoon filmmaking in a simple and accessible way using tools that are available in every home.
I’ll be sharing not only my ideas, but also every project I work on. So, I truly hope you’ll support the site by sharing my tutorials and work with your friends and family on Facebook and Instagram.
It all started back in school, especially in art classes, where I discovered my talent and found the encouragement I needed. My art teacher always supported me and often favored my work over that of other students.
At home, I would design my own stories and magazines, creating original anime and cartoon characters. I especially loved Japanese manga—even though I’ve never actually read a full manga in my life! I preferred to create and color my own because I never liked black-and-white comics. That’s why I couldn’t get into reading them, but I loved making them my way.
Art and drawing helped me get through many challenges. When I first started learning on the computer, I used MS Paint and a mouse to draw. I even created full-colored manga using only my laptop’s touchpad—which I can’t believe now! Later, I moved on to Photoshop, then Manga Studio, and eventually I had a turning point: learning animation using Toon Boom. I still use it to this day.
The first time I created and animated a full scene was a magical, unforgettable moment. I felt as if I had unlocked the secrets of animation—something that once seemed impossible to me. I used to spend hours and hours designing cartoon and anime characters, and when I finally saw the scenes come to life, I felt as proud as a mother with her newborn!
Sadly, most of that work has been lost—and ironically, the best of it. Even better than what I’ve posted on my YouTube channel, which I launched in 2013. Back then, I couldn’t find a single Arabic video of someone creating their own animated scene, so I believe I was one of the first. I was truly thrilled by the audience’s reaction, even though I still consider myself a hobbyist, not a professional. I’m learning something new every day in Toon Boom.
Now, I’ve returned to the world of drawing and animation after moving on from my exhausting day job—because for me, nothing is more fulfilling than expressing myself through this incredible art form.
Drawing was hard in the beginning, and it still is—but every time I think of giving up, I remind myself:
If I don’t keep going, I’ll never get there.
