My dear friends, without a doubt, Action Background Lines — the dynamic thrill backgrounds you see behind anime characters in intense scenes — have become ubiquitous in anime works. It’s hard to find an anime, even a simple one, that doesn’t feature them. That’s because Anime Background Lines convey an emotional energy that animation, dubbing, or music alone can’t deliver. That’s what led me to specialize in designing Action Background Lines for my own anime projects, and in this article, I’ll take you on a journey to show their importance and necessity in elevating your anime’s quality.

Conveying Emotion Through Action Background Lines
What if the protagonist is angry or internally burning with fury? How does a director convey that visually? Right: through powerful Action Background Lines appearing directly behind the character, without any other elements—like roaring flames behind them. That’s far more expressive than dialogue or dramatic music alone.
The same applies to sad scenes—using dark or jagged lines as Action Background Lines helps communicate inner emptiness, turmoil, or grief. Even a spiral pattern can evoke deep emotional resonance.

Epic Fight Scenes
It’s no secret that combat scenes rely heavily on Action Background Lines. Who doesn’t remember the iconic moment when hero and villain collide, and fast-moving lines radiate behind them? These Anime Background Lines transform a simple fight into an epic showdown. Horizontal streaks hint at speed, while vertical ones simulate a falling motion—key features of Action Background Lines in battle sequences.
Clearly, these lines elevate a scene from ordinary animation to something truly cinematic and intense.

Download & Use Speed Lines and Action Background Assets
Previously, I designed several Action Background Lines to use in my own anime projects, as I mentioned earlier. This decision significantly elevated the quality of my work. Instead of relying on static backgrounds or generic settings like rooms or streets for intense scenes, I replaced them with Action Background Lines, all created using Adobe After Effects—well-known for its powerful visual effects tools used in films and animation alike.

But it wasn’t just limited to Action Background Lines. I also designed external scene backgrounds that aren’t tied to a specific location—just general visuals like a morning sky, a night sky, or a glittering starry sky. The advantage of these backgrounds is that they’re ideal for opening scenes. For example, you can use the night sky background to indicate that night has fallen before cutting to the next scene—and vice versa for morning transitions.
You can purchase and download these Anime Background Action Lines and fast motion effects directly from my Gumroad account. I’ve made them available as high-quality, ready-to-use assets tailored specifically for anime scenes, whether you’re working on battles, emotional moments, or stylish transitions.

There’s another type of background that’s just as important: emotion-driven backgrounds. As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, these are essential in expressing the emotions of anime characters. If you look at the image below, you’ll see a fiery background representing anger or jealousy, and a black background for dark, somber scenes.
Additionally, you’ll notice two more effects in the image—though these are not backgrounds but animated elements, such as flower petals, bubbles, or sparkles appearing in front of the character. You can use these as expressive Action Background Lines during emotional, contemplative, or admiration-filled moments.

Friends, don’t hesitate to grab this set of Action Background Lines I’ve designed for you. They cover every likely scenario in your anime—even moods and emotional tones. The link’s at the top of this article. I hope they inspire you—and I’ll see you in more articles soon.
