What is the onion skin ?
It is a word that refers to the layers in which we can see the previous and next drawing in it, and it is a tool found in animation programs such as Toon Boom and Anime Studio, and it is used to know the movement that we have previously drawn, instead of moving between the pages of the drawing, we can simply Turn on the feature, and it also allows us to see the next drawing, and we draw the frames in between, which is a feature that I absolutely cannot dispense with.

How to use:
First and foremost, we are drawing the movement that we will move, whether it is a combat movement or not, and it makes no difference whether you will move a complex or simple movement, this tool will do the task, and it will help us see everything we do. First pose

Here we open our Toon Boom Harmony Twenty20 program, and start planning, “If you want to preempt this step in order to understand the Onion Knife, that's fine.” After we finish the first movement, we move directly to the next frame, “Frame” and draw the movement that will stop at it. Then we activate the onion skin tool onion peel, "which I have selected in red in the image at the top", you will find it in the left menu of the Toon Boom Harmony program, and here the magic begins, you will immediately notice the appearance of the next two drawings, so what is in red is The previous frame, which is green, is the next frame.
Then we have a choice of two, either we walk and draw in the middle between the two movements, or we prefer a movement over a movement, meaning, if you want your next move to be the most prominent, then draw near the green line, and if you want to prefer the first movement, then draw close The red line, but not too close.
Continue drawing until you reach the appropriate frames, and the required movement, and keep the tool active, until you finish moving the anime.
Always drawing in the middle of the two drawings, this will make the animation appear automatic and fake, sometimes it is best to draw near one of the lines using onion skin.
This tool will make it easier for you to work greatly, usually in manual movement, the movers have to open the previous drawing over and over again to make sure that they are in the right track, but with this tool available in the Toon Boom Harmony program, which is considered one of the basics, your time is not wasted, And you will get the job done faster.
